Busy Bees

Sept. 11th was Owen's first day of school. His teacher's name is Ruth Ellen and he likes her very much (and she seems to like him quite a bit, too). He goes Monday and Thursday mornings from 9-12 and it's a major adjustment for him - being away from mom for the first time. The first week was filled with tears - lots of them - but then the second week was substantially better. Week three begins next week, and I bet I'll see substantial improvement again. I'm doing OK with it, though it's hard for me too. I get a lot done during those three hours which helps ease the anxiety.

Kristen turned six months old on the fifteenth and she had her six-month checkup yesterday. She's 26 3/4 inches and 15 lbs. 8 oz.. She's doing all of the fun stuff that six-month-olds do, like learning to sit up on her own, making new sounds, and for the first time last night, eating sweet potatoes (her first food experience). In the picture to the right, my friend is holding her at the park on her six-month birthday, but I wasn't even thinking that Stephanie was getting chopped off at the mouth! Sorry, Steph. :)

Poop On The Potty!

Owen just made his first complete poop on the potty all by himself!!! I am so excited! He's eating a sucker to celebrate. Right before bed. Ha ha ha! And his school starts on Monday. How awesome. I'm so proud!

Tonight we went to the Saline County Fair for a couple of hours and had a nice family evening for a grand total of $11.00. Owen pet a variety of animals and Kristen was dazzled by the lights and intensely curious about the animal sounds.

I Could Advertise...

...for one of those weight loss commercials - without having lost any weight this weekend, mind you. "I lost two sizes in just one weekend!" If you need a pair of jeans that make you feel skinny because of the size on the tag, I would suggest Gap Long & Lean. Ladies & Gentlemen, I'm currently wearing a size 8 pants in almost every make & model out there. However, after a major shopping-exchanging-exchanging again affair this weekend, I'm here to report that in the Gap Long & Lean, it took a size 4 - you read that right - to keep them on the body while zipped and buttoned. Having a "fat" day? Just whip out your Long & Leans! A part of you will realize that they're lying to you, but if you are able to conjure your delusional spirit, they might make you feel, well, long and lean! :)
